Important First Steps in your Long-Term Recovery from Any Disaster:
1. Call your home-owner's insurance company.
If you're not covered, get a letter from them stating so. If you
need help advocating with your insurance company, we can point you
toward an insurance advocate.
2. Register with FEMA, SBA and Red Cross immediately after the disaster.
If you have missed the deadline, you will not be able to
use their assistance later.
3. Register for any City or County assistance that may be available.
4. Call VIND to help you create your plan for long-term recovery.
Are you still recovering from the '04 Hurricanes, the Christmas Day tornado of '06,
the Ground Hog Day tornado of '07, Tropical Storm Fay, the Port Orange Tornado of 2009, the 2009 May floods, or another Volusia County disaster?
